US stocks were quietly mixed today as they digest yet another day of good gains yesterday. Asian and European exchanges were similar, with German shares lower and UK shares higher. The STOXX 600 lost 0.38%. In Asia, both Japanese and Chinese markets registered gains, and the Asia Dow accordingly rose 0.30%
Bonds benefited from portfolio balancing, with buyers sending yields on the 10-year note to 2.198%, just above the lowest yield in 12 months. The dollar also took a hit, down 0.50% to 94.30. Also on the downswing were oil prices, with crude finishing at $46.73, down 0.73%.
Metals were mostly modestly higher. gold added $2 and silver was up 4 cents, with platinum gaining $6/oz. The miners, per the XAU index, were up half a percent at $83.06.
