Japan is on the verge of a technical recession after data on industrial production raised the prospect of a second consecutive quarter of negative growth. Industrial production for August — a crucial input into gross domestic product — unexpectedly fell by 0.5 percent on the previous month after a 0.6 percent fall in July.
At the weekend some friends and I headed out with sleeping bags to lay under the stars by the river Dart and observe the supermoon and the eclipse. In today’s modern society it’s amazing how unusual this is for most people. In fact, it felt quite rebellious even! We really have become disconnected from the land. But we yearn for that reconnection I feel.
