World stock markets were mixed in a light, pre-holiday trading session.  In the US, stocks started the day higher, but sold off gradually after that.  The Asia Dow finished higher, up 0.34%, but the STOXX 600 lost some ground - down 0.09%.  

Currencies had some good moves, with the euro hitting 3-month highs while the US dollar index hit 3-month lows.  Traders seem to be paying more attention to central banks outside of the US shifting to a less accommodative stance than they are to the latest rate hike in the US.  Bond prices rallied, sending yields down in the US - to 2.41% on the 10-year note; meanwhile, yields were mostly higher overseas.  The dollar index closed with a 0.44% loss at 92.26.

Precious metals climbed once again.  Gold added another $8 to close over $1300, and silver gained a dime to close over $17.  Platinum rose just a dollar, however, ... Log in or subscribe to continue reading.
