Richard’s Thoughts: Lessons from the Past
Stock action was somewhat muted on this semi-holiday of Veteran's Day ... a great remembrance of those who have served to protect our country. But with the markets open, our trash being picked up, etc., one wonders if we couldn't do a bit more. ANYWAY – US stocks started off somewhat lower, fell from there, moseyed around all day, and then rallied into the close.
Asian exchanges closed mixed, after Japan's NIKKEI surrendered earlier gains to close down 0.82%. The Asia Dow managed a 0.03% gain on the backs of Chinese and Indian market rises. Eyes remain on President Trump and his comments on the big US trade deficit with China, though few expect serious action on the matter. In Europe, red was the color of the day – every major market closing lower. The STOXX 600 gave back just 0.35%, though.
