The trend was mostly higher today, led by optimistic readings of Fed Chair Yellen's comments yesterday. But even more important was a big jump in oil prices, taking crude oil up more than $2/bbl. today. That helped send stocks higher, especially oil stocks.
Global stock markets finished higher, with the Global Dow up nearly 1%. London's FTSE index closed at new 2016 highs, led by energy share rallies. In the US, stocks were modestly higher, with major indices up a quarter percent or less.
Gold was down a bit, silver up a bit. But the big winner in the precious metals, besides platinum - up $10 - were the mining shares. XAU finished at 74.02, setting a new yearly high and further frustrating our plans to buy on a dip.
