Stocks were mixed to higher throughout the world today, with the Global Dow up a scant 0.03%.  The Asia Dow rose a healthy 0.83%, but the STOXX 600 couldn’t keep up and actually fell 0.10.%.

The major stock US share indexes were modestly lower day-long, even as market breadth was slightly positive.  At the close, the Dow was 28 points lower, the Transports were UP 45 points, the S&P 500 lost 1 point, and the NASDAQ was down 5.  1,479 NYSE stocks were higher, compared to 1,453 that lost ground.

The metals had another good day, their near-term corner definitely turned.  Gold rose $7 or 0.6%, silver gained 22 cents or 1%, and platinum also rallied, up $2.  Mining shares tagged along, with XAU closing at 83.97, up 0.7%.  Crude oil, however, had a nothing day, and finished unchanged from yesterday.
