Recon in Japan, On High Alert Globally

Daily Recap

Today's big feature was continuing pressure on European banks, especially Germany's Deutsche Bank, down another 7% today in continued reaction to fines from the US Justice department.

World stocks were mixed, with major Asian markets higher, Britain and France higher, but German shares down.  Coming into the close, the Dow Industrials are 160 points lower; NASDAQ and S&P 500 are also lower, but not as much percentage wise. The Global Dow was up 0.15%

Oil prices rose on news of an OPEC deal in November. Crude oil (WTIC) was 60 cents higher.  Precious metals were up just a tad; gold $1 higher, silver up a couple of cents, and platinum up $2. Both the dollar index and bonds were down slightly.
