A key leader of Britain's "Remain" camp was shot and killed today, prompting a temporary suspension of campaigning by both sides.  Still, the prospect of an EU without the UK has everyone concerned.  European bourses were modestly lower, following a sharp drop of Japan's Nikkei index.  The Global Dow lost 0.28%

Crude oil tumbled today, down more than $2/bbl, its sixth day in a row of lower prices.  At $46, crude was at its lowest price in 5 weeks.  US oil company shares dropped quite a bit early, but then rallied into the close.  XLE had been down about 2% in the morning, but it was only 0.4% lower coming into the close, while CVX, down hard a few hours ago, is actually higher on the day now.

Gold had a wild day, up $20 in the morning but down $12 in late trading for a $35 swing during the trading day.  Similarly, silver ... Log in or subscribe to continue reading.
