This week is one of the heaviest in terms of earnings reports, and today they didn't disappoint. Positive earnings from a host of multinational companies helped nearly all major averages head higher. The Industrials climbed 104 points to 21,617 while the Transports rose 0.68%. The Nasdaq saw a small 0.07% gain and the S&P 500 added 0.32%.
International markets were mixed with most of Asia higher, while Europe was modestly lower. In Europe, a one percent decline in the UK's FTSE helped pull the Stoxx 600 down, which closed with a 0.24% loss. All Asian markets except Singapore saw gains as the Asia Dow rose 0.06%. The Global Dow was up 0.40%.
Bond prices in the U.S. sold off, as investors shifted to more riskier assets. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 2.33%. The dollar once again was little changed, its index rising 0.06% to 94.09.
