I’ve been writing these reports for 65 years, and ironically, in all that time, what’s probably generated the most interest is my stories about World War II (be kind to me; that aren’t that many of us combat veterans left). On another subject, who is the most important person in the world today? My vote is for a woman, Angela Merkel, chancellor of Germany. Merkel is adored by the Germans. She has a 70% approval rating, and has been elected and reelected three times as chancellor. It is said that Angela Merkel is the only person in the world whom Russia’s Putin respects. They spoke over the phone last year 35 times. Interestingly, Merkel speaks fluid Russian and Putin speaks German. They often talk to each other ... Log in or subscribe to continue reading.
