It's like living in the wild, wild West these days. Remember all the griping about how dull the stock market was in 2017 and the first month of this year? Be as careful in what you gripe about as what you wish for! Stocks opened mostly a bit higher, and then bounced around until the last hour or so, until traders decided the big support areas might hold after all. Then BAM – big rally. Will it hold?
Stocks were also mixed overseas. The Asia Dow went nowhere, despite losses in Japan and China; it was up 0.01%. European markets were almost all lower, sending the STOXX 600 down 0.49%. Mexico was up big league, with Chile having a decent day too. Canadian shares weren't too happy, shown in the TSX down 0.34% shortly before the close.
