US stocks traded on both sides of yesterday's close, finishing with a small gain on the Dow Industrials, a fractional loss on the S&P 500, and a larger loss on the NASDAQ. World markets were once again mixed, with Asian exchanges briskly higher, leading to a 0.68% gain for the Asia Dow. Europeans had a different perspective, with stocks selling off across the board and the STOXX 600 down 0.49%. That put things in the US's court, where things were unenthusiastic either way.
At the close, the Dow managed to squeak out a 9 point gain. The S&P lost a point, and the NASDAQ fell by 19 points, or 0.27%. The Dow Transports got hit the hardest – down 0.60%. The main feature moving today's market was – none; there was no exciting news one way or another, just rambling stocks as the latest earnings season faded into history ...
