All eyes are on the US economy. My secret suspicion is that the economy is improving; I also think the state of the world is improving. Today’s New York Times featured a piece on the brutality of football. The evidence on football damaging players physically is overwhelming. It’s now a case of big money versus human lives. I believe the future of football in America is negative.
The Ringling Brothers Circus meanwhile announces that it is dropping its elephant act. It charges that elephants are treated cruelly in the circus.
Meanwhile, the younger brother of the perpetrator of the Boston Marathon disaster is up for a life sentence with no chance of parole or the death penalty. America has few death penalty partners in today’s world. Nations using the death penalty are Russia, China, North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
