The big story of the day was oil, which hit a one-year high as stockpiles fell. Storage of crude has now fallen in six of the last seven weeks, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Near the close light crude was trading over $51, up 2%.
The move higher in oil lifted equity prices with it, though there was a loss of momentum toward the close. The Industrials added on 40 points while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 rose 0.05% and 0.2% respectively.
Internationally, stocks did better with most European and Asian indexes in the green. The Global Dow Index rose 0.42%.
The dollar was little changed, rising 0.03% against a basket of currencies. In Treasury markets there wasn't much action either, with the 10-year finishing down slightly and yielding 1.74%
