I depend on The Economist magazine to provide me with the sanest view of the world at any given time. A few weeks ago a pessimistic Economist sounded like it was third world status for America. But lo and behold, the latest issue (“The World in 2014”) reversed itself and suggested that America once more would save the world. Reading the newspaper headlines is a study in fear. Love is the absence of fear. And I continue to hope that in my lifetime, I might see the absence of fear in our world.


I still think that people fail to see the importance of gold. Gold is the ever present standard for wealth. Ultimately all assets are measured against gold. Sophisticated investors do not buy gold for potential profits. They buy gold the way Elizabeth Taylor collected jewelry or as some collectors amass great art; as a measure of eternal wealth. ...
