Last month I attended the Altegris / Mauldin Strategic Investment Conference in San Diego. It was a terrific conference with a focus on the broad picture and trends in the economy, demographics and technology. I was privileged to see one of my favorite authors, historian Neil Howe, speak there.
Neil Howe and William Strauss wrote The Fourth Turning in 1997. Howe and the late William Strauss later founded Life Course Inc. and Howe has become the foremost demographer in the US, serving as a consultant to major businesses and governmental agencies, often advising on the behavior of “millennials” (those born between 1982 and 2004 -- our current youth). He has an impressive track record of predicting social and economic trends.
