Daily Recap

Stock markets stumbled around the world in response to President Trump's aggressive warning to N. Korea, should it be foolish enough to attack the US as promised. With the exception of Australia, world exchanges were all in the red, led by Japan's NIKKEI, down 1.29%. Europe's STOXX 600 declined by 0.73%.

Investors sought safety in the precious metals and bonds. Gold popped a respectable $15/oz., silver soared 44 cents, while platinum gained a measly $3. The 10-year T-note rose 7/32, its yield falling to 2.235%.

The dollar was quiet amidst it all, falling a modest 0.05% to 93.55. Crude oil rallied, despite the latest worries over supply; it gained 0.75% to $49.54/bbl.

At the close, the Industrials were down only 37 points, the NASDAQ lost 18 points, as the S&P fell just one point.
