Foreign Bank Stocks with Astronomical 5% Yields
Stocks were basically in the mode of taking a breather, following some big up days and on a day when there was little news of import. Asian markets were mixed, with the biggest mover being Japan's NIKKEI - up 0.45%. Nevertheless, the mysterious Asia Dow was down 0.27%. European exchanges were about evenly split between up and down, and the STOXX 600 reflected that - down 0.02%. It was the same in the Americas: 2 big markets up, 2 down.
In the US, the Dow Industrials traded lower in the morning, but higher in the afternoon. They closed at 22,158, up 39 points or 0.18% higher. The S&P 500 gained 2 points in the last few minutes, up 0.08%, and the NASDAQ similarly rallied at the end, up 0.09%.
