The Chinese water torture continued today for the shorts and people waiting to invest on a correction. Almost every day, just a little bit higher. And today was no exception; Asian stocks were higher, Europe's STOXX 600 gained 0.42%, and US shares nudged higher throughout the day. At the close, the Dow Industrials were up 35 points, the S&P 500 rose 7 points, and the NASDAQ added 24 points -- yet again with new all-time highs.
Oil took a breather today after hitting 16-month highs in its latest run. Crude oil lost a dollar a barrel, to $50.74. The dollar held above the 100 level, its index finishing at 100.48.
Economic news included an 18% rise in the US trade deficit, a growth in U.S. productivity of 3.1 percent at an annualized rate, and a 2.7 percent increase in factory orders.
