Before discussing some other income-generating investments that are on my radar, I thought that now would be a good time to review the income securities that I wrote about over the past few weeks and to tell you my current thinking on those securities.
Since the publication of my first article on November 13, to buy Gabelli Equity Trust Inc. 5.00% Series H Cumulative Preferred Stock (GAB-PH), and my second article on December 5, 2013, to buy PowerShares Senior Loan Portfolio (BKLN), those securities have appreciated, on average, approximately 1.7% (including dividends). Specifically, GAB.PH has gained 3.3% and BKLN has appreciated 0.2% as of December 17, 2013.
While I admit that the short-term returns on GAB.PH and BKLN are of little significance, I expect both of those securities to continue to generate positive returns while presenting much less risk than investments in most other securities.
