Lately we've received a few questions about the Permanent Portfolio Fund (PRPFX) that was recommended in the past and is quoted daily in the Today's Market Action section. I'd like to shed some additional light on this fund and help subscribers determine whether it's worth their hard earned dollars.
According to the prospectus, the goal of this fund is to: "Preserve and increase the purchasing power value of its shares over the long-term ... it tries to limit downside risk while providing for profit potential in any environment. The portfolio seeks to achieve its objective by investing in a diversified mix of non-correlated asset classes, chosen for their long term potential to preserve purchasing power, pursue high profit potential, achieve low volatility and provide international diversification."
