The stock market is acting like a snake when its heads is cut off. Dow up 100 points one day, down 100 points the next day. If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be comical. Of course what's happening is that the pros and money managers are trying to scalp profits on every violent move.
The Fed and Europe's central bank ("whatever it takes") are attempting to battle againstg deflation and produce 2% inflation. The problem is that they are battling against a world that is being pressured by primary forces of deflation and deleveraging. It's like trying to climb up a down escalator.
Poor Janet Yellen is beset by the problem of a Fed that wantswould like to taper and increase interest rates in a sick and gasping economy. The Fed now realizes that the US economy is sputtering.
