Russell talks -- At this time, I feel it is a waste of time to rant on and on about the US economy. As I used to say, "the story is in the Averages." As of yesterday's close, the Dow was down for the first eight days in January. This at least suggests that January could end up as a "dangerous down month." But if it does -- how dangerous are we talking about? That nobody knows. Most of the bears are predicting perhaps a ten percent decline is in our future. Yet, they are clearly still optimistic. But what if we are on the edge of a primary bear market? Would you bet your life that we are not moving towards a bear market that might take us below the low of 2009?
